A Northern pleasure!
This silver bracelet was commissioned by a solo paddler from Minnesota, USA. A lover of solo canoeing, at 65, she had just completed her second solo trip in the Boundary Waters/Quetico of Minnesota/Ontario.
This was a very engaging project for me. Beginning around (Canadian) Thanksgiving, at the same time that I visit Parry Sound, Ontario, to be with Family. I found myself engaging with the landscape in a different way. The surroundings being the same, on the Canadian Shield; rocky shores, cold water and white pines were the focus for the design, and they were all around, here in Canada. Relevant to the design for my customer in the USA!
As always, I am so thankful for my wonderful clients! This was a terrific, collaborative project, and working with this thoughtful, active, woman was a true inspiration.
This project represents 28hrs. of carving time.
Update: I was asked to make two more of these bracelets, for her family.
It’s so lovely to think of these women wearing this commissioned celebration of nature and personal accomplishment.
